With the awareness that the continuity of human activities, the preservation of natural resources, and leaving a livable world for future generations require the effective management of environmental impact at both individual and corporate levels, TOSMUR GROUP implements an effective ISO 14001 environmental management system in our facilities. Areas such as raw material usage, energy management, greenhouse gas emissions, waste management, biodiversity, and supply chain form the roadmap for our environmental sustainability efforts.
  • We strive to use raw materials that align with the circular economy model, promote resource efficiency, and are recyclable.
  • We focus on using energy resources efficiently and managing the transition to renewable, inexhaustible sources.
  • Supporting carbon offset initiatives with a rational strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is part of our commitment.
  • We manage an effective waste management system that includes recycling and disposal processes to prevent environmental pollution and reduce ecological footprints.
  • To ensure that our activities are in harmony with the preservation of biodiversity, we adhere to legal regulations and international standards.
  • Waste, energy, greenhouse gas emissions, environmental pollution, and biodiversity preservation are priorities in our supply chain.
The circular economy is based on three principles;
  • zero waste in production
  • reuse of natural resources used in the process (such as water)
  • evaluation of process outputs by using them for different purposes (such as by products, alcohol, production)
 SUSTAINABILITY
Energy Management
The increasing global energy consumption has led to a growing interest in energy conservation efforts. By implementing the ISO 50001 Energy Management System Standard, we identify areas in our factory where measures and controls can be taken in the context of energy, and after taking the necessary steps for improvement, we ensure the continuity and sustainability of the improvement efforts. In this regard:
  • We have made a cogeneration investment of 12,630 kWh with the aim of producing all the energy we consume within our own facility.
  • By selecting suitable equipment in the process, we achieve a reduction in the amount of energy consumed per unit of time.
  • We reduce the amount of energy consumed by using high-efficiency lighting systems.
Waste Management
The high-energy waste steam generated in our process is not directly released into the atmosphere; instead, it is first rendered environmentally harmless and utilized within our facility. This practice contributes to a reduction in water consumption. The wastewater generated in our operations is treated in our anaerobic treatment system to produce biogas (CH4). We use this biogas to meet the steam requirements of our operations. Additionally, to prevent the direct release of methane gas into the atmosphere, which could harm the ozone layer in the event of a system malfunction, our facility is equipped with a gas combustion unit.
Water Management
The Membrane Bio-Reactor System used in our facility has improved the quality of our discharge water, resulting in a discharge of very high quality into the environment. Improvement efforts in our facility also enable the recovery of 60% of the Reverse Osmosis reject water through recycling."
